About Us!

When you dance at Starcast Dance Academy you are a part of the best dance experience and training in Okotoks.
Is Starcast Accredited?
We have two Royal Academy of Dance ballet certified instructors on staff. Our ballet program director Miss Tracy has obtained her RAD teaching certificate, ISTD Cecchetti Associate, as well as CDTA ballet certification. We can also boast that we are the ONLY certified ADAPT (Brian Foley) Studio in town!
Award Winning Studio
Starcast has recently been voted “Best Place to Take a Dance Class – Silver” in the Best of Foothills contest missing out on gold by just one vote in July 2010!
Starcast dancers continue to achieve numerous awards and scholarships at provincial level competitions.
Competitive Program
At Starcast you have the privilege of dancing in a professional facility built for gymnastics and dance. Our competitive dance program incorporates the gymnastics facility giving our dancers the edge in jumps and acro training.
Starcast has adapted the same training strategy established by the largest most competitive dance studios in Calgary that have their full-time competitive dancers only dancing two nights per week with no down time waiting around in-between classes. We know how busy the modern family is so your child receives a full-time competitive program streamlined to fit their busy family schedule! This allows the dancer to pursue other sports, have time for their homework and have play time with friends, while developing amazing discipline and stamina. Imagine that...only 2 nights a week!
Performance/Workshop Opportunities
Our dancers have many performance opportunities and have performed at Disneyland, Heritage Park, Hawaii and also at the Alberta Games. Our competitive dancers are looking forward to another amazing trip abroad in 2012 to Vegas Baby! We are celebrating Dance Power's 25th Anniversary in sytle with an all American Competition and Workshop at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada in June!
Our studio also brings in super star dancers and actors to Starcast. Examples are Jayne Peter. Jayne is the official Canadian Dance Team Coach for the World Championships in Germany. Starcast also brought in Stan Lesk and Frank Adamson, two prominant Canadian actors who have performed in movies, television shows, commercials and theatres across Canada.
Preschool & Recreation Programs
During these hard economic times it is hard to let your child take all the classes they want to take. Starcast is offering a Rec Combo Special that allows your child to take three dance classes for the price of two. Your child can chose three of the following classes: tap, ballet, hip hop, acro, musical theatre or jazz dance at an incredible savings. Best deal in town!
We are proud of our safe, nurturing, positive environment and we strive to ensure every child reaches their full potential. The grand-finale of our dance year is our recital at the professional theatre in the Glenmore Christian Academy. Dancers are given the star treatment by having stars on their dressing room doors and receiving a gold medal for participation.

Our Competitive training starts with our junior dancers at the age of 5 or 6 and progresses to our senior dancers up to 17 years of age. The most important age to start a dance competitor is when they are junior dancers. Children from the age of 6 to 8 must be taught proper dance technique during those critical years if they wish to become competitive and be comparable to the larger Calgary studios. At Starcast we know that to develop and train a dancer properly, you must have your senior most experienced teachers work with these children. As a result of this action, our junior dancers have become among the strongest dancers in Alberta and are very successful in competition and examinations. Even after six months, you can see the difference of a dancer that has been properly trained.
At Starcast our students have access to Tap and Jazz Examinations and Ballet Examinations. Certified examinations are a priority for our 2010 / 2011 Dance Season!
Our teachers are what set us apart from the rest. We encourage you to read our teachers' impressive bios online, we know you will be impressed. Our competitive students go up against the best studios in Calgary. Navigate to our competition results page to see how we measure up! All photos of the dancers on our site are Starcast students past and present!
